"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Year 7 Sophie’s Sewing Pet Business Helps Animals at Bazaar

We love hearing about students who pursue different interests and passions outside school. We couldn’t help but notice the lovely Sewing Pet stall run by Sophie in Year 7 at the Parents’ Guild Bazaar last weekend and were intrigued to find out more.

Sophie has her own business ‘Sewing Pet‘ which she has run online through Etsy since she was age 10, with consistently high five star reviews. Sophie had already showed her entrepreneurial flair before that with selling other items (including DIY badges when she was 6!) at other fairs.

Last Saturday at the Bazaar she ran a Sewing Pet stall. A percentage of her profits will be donated to the Mayhew Animal Home – a local animal welfare organisation, for whom she displayed their flyers at the fair. Sophie was supported by her friend Natalie at the stall, while she also sold her own wonderful self designed Christmas & animal stickers. They had a great day thanks to the generous school community  with sales totalling £132. Sophie worked hard for the Bazaar designing and sewing various pet toys, dog bandanas, animal pencils, baked cake pops and made ceramic decorations over several weeks. Sewing in particular is a very time consuming activity but she perseveres lovingly making each item. Where she can she uses organic and recycled materials including organic catnip, recycled stuffing and recycled plastic bags.

Well done Sophie and Natalie! Keep up the entrepreneurial spirit!
