Year 9 Take to the Stage to Perform Latin Play!
By Mrs Tollit, Classics Teacher
Year 9 Red took to the stage at the end of term with a play performed entirely in Latin!
Called ‘Sacrifice’ it explores the nature of Roman religion and the relationship the Romans had with their gods. The plot tells of a family whose abandonment of their religious rituals in order to watch actors, dancers and musicians is, they believe, punished by the eruption of the Mount Vesuvius; Jupiter saves only the grandparents who were quick to fall on his mercy, rewarding their piety by taking them to Olympus to live with the gods.
From learning all their lines by heart in Latin, to providing costumes, props, sound and lights, it was another great example of NHEHS students being both individually and collectively brilliant!
