Year 9’s Virtual Science Museum Trip
Year 9 went on a virtual Science Museum trip last week via 360tour.sciencemuseum.org.uk.
Here’s two of our science students on the virtual museum experience and how they found answering the teachers’ physics-based questions around forces:

“I enjoyed the trip to the virtual museum as I was able to explore the whole museum in detail with just the click of a button. It was easy to get around and could easily go from exhibit to exhibit. Although it is easier to access the museum through a screen with the click of a button, I would prefer to go to the actual museum. This way I can study exhibits much better and see things that can only be seen with the eye. In real life I would also be able to read the information on each exhibit which I was not able to find a way to do on the computer. Even though it was fun experimenting with the virtual museum, I would still rather go to the real thing.”

“Personally, I really appreciated the effort the science department went to to attempt to replicate the school trip design and form. The worksheet was good and I learnt/revisited several bits of information across the course of this task. However, some of the questions were unanswerable (the diagram labelling). The 360-science museum website was a little more difficult to use than I had anticipated and details such as the information boards that I usually find the most beneficial and interesting factor were too blurred to read. Overall, I thought it was a really nice sentiment to try and include a trip into the school week, but, naturally, the usual atmosphere of a school trip was lacking and some aspects that I tend to appreciate more were missing. Thank you for this opportunity!”
