"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Years 9 & 10 Rise to the Junior Physics Challenge

By Madi W, Year 10

On Thursday the 6th of June, Year 10 took part in the Junior Physics Challenge run by the British Physics Olympiad. This was a two part quiz on our knowledge of physics as well as our abilities of problem solving, applied maths, and resilience. This quiz was designed to push the limits of our knowledge, with areas of physics we have not been taught yet. It demonstrated to us that physics wasn’t all about learning the formulae and substituting in values. To me, physics is about trying to answer the questions we ask about the universe, and understanding others’ theories to help us build on the knowledge we develop in the classroom, and later in the workplace.

Ms Motyer, Acting Head of Physics

The latest physics challenge resulted in the scores below. This challenge was aimed at students in Year 10, so it was particularly impressive that Ana R in Year 9 achieved a Gold Award with Amelia D and Maia R also in Year 9 attaining a Silver and Bronze respectively.

Congratulations also go to these Year 10 girls for their awards:

Gold

Gen P, Heather M, Madi W, Amrit M, Chloe B, Maddy C

Silver

Harinee S, Shivani P, Rithi B, Amelia D, Tara A-H, Harneet V, Iva R

Bronze

Lewhat Y, Maia R, Shreya G, Nur M, Lydia M

Well done to everyone taking part.
