Alumna Jessica Booth Launches Series of Talks from Women in Tech
Huge thanks to alumna Jessica Booth (NHEHS 2000) who spoke to Year 12 students in the first of a series of talks from women in the technology industry.
Jess is currently a Director of Data Analytics in KPMG’s Digital Lighthouse practice, with 17 years of experience in the public sector, transport and telecoms. She provided a fascinating insight into her day to day role and the exciting data strategy projects that she’s currently involved with, including work for the Department of Education and Great British Railways.
Jess also spoke about a wonderful KPMG initiative, ‘IT’s Her Future’ which is designed to tackle gender diversity within KPMG, and beyond, as well as to encourage more women into technology careers and to support their ongoing development and progression, whether they’re still at school, just setting out on a career path or are looking to move into the most senior roles.
Jess gave the Year 12 students invaluable advice about getting into a career in technology- saying ‘yes’ to things which come their way, even if it’s outside their comfort zone, thinking about where their strengths lie and the importance of people skills, in addition to technical skills: being able to listen, understand and coach others.
Many thanks to Jess for getting this series off to a fantastic start!
