Informative American and International Universities Evening for Students and Parents
Earlier this week we held our International Universities Information Evening, open to all our pupils in Years 9-12 (and their parents) interested in studying abroad.
The evening gave students the opportunity to find out more about a range of courses and institutions, why an international university might suit them, and how it can be made viable.
We were joined by Jason Smith from UES Education, which delivers programmes to support students applying for university in both the UK and America and work with us to provide one-to-one support for our students from the start of their ambitions to travel abroad to study. We heard about the differences between the British and the American systems, factors to consider when choosing a college, what is involved in making an application, and the key dates for applications. Jason’s wealth of knowledge about US systems and colleges was as impressive as ever, fielding questions about a number of different countries as well. We work closely with UES as our advisors for our US applicants and we look forward to Jason visiting us again for student 1:1s later this term.
Earlier this week, Mrs Collins, our Director of University Admissions and Mrs Postlethwaite, Deputy Head of Sixth, had welcomed Karen J’Bari, Senior Admissions Officer and her colleague from McGill University in Montreal, Canada to NHEHS.
Currently there are NHEHS alumnae studying abroad at Amsterdam Fashion Academy,California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Cornell University, Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin and McGill University in Canada, plus a number of current sixth formers looking at international universities for 2024 and beyond.
Students or parents wishing to know about our support for students looking outside the UK for their applications can contact Mrs Collins.
