"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Chamber Choir & Music Scholars Trip to Brahms’ Requiem at St Martin-in-the-Fields

By Mr Guthrie

On Thursday 13th June, students from the Chamber Choirs and Music Scholars went to hear Brahms’ Requiem sung by St Martin’s Voices with myself and Miss Goodsell. It was also lovely for the students to have a chance to hear a world premiere of a piece of music by Lucy Walker. Lucy judged our Musician of the Year competition in February and it was wonderful for the girls to have a chance to see her and her work performed live.

By Mina W, Year 8

The concert hall was majestic and had great acoustics, and we started the first half with the choir of St Martin’s Voices, followed by some excellent sounds from the string instruments in a Mozart Flute Quartet. From my seat, I could see the cellist clearly, but there were several different instruments accompanying the voices. The second half, Brahms’ Requiem, was brilliant and a magical experience featuring some amazing solos from the soprano and baritone.
