Daido Moriyama Exhibition – a Photo for Everyone
By Alexia, Year 12 Art History Student
On Monday the 29th of January I attended the Regional ARTiculate heat to support my fellow colleague Matilda J as she competed against seven other candidates. During my time at the Photographers’ Gallery where this competition took place, I had the opportunity to visit the “Daido Moriyama” exhibition.
The exhibition showcased 400 photographs as well as books, installations and magazines. The exhibition aims to give people an idea of daily life in urban cities such as Tokyo. His work varies from black and white photos of stray dogs to striking and colourful photos of adverts and nightlife throughout the world. There is a photo for everyone in his exhibition. One has the opportunity to experience every possible emotion as each wall presents a different story, whether it is good or bad, frightful or beautiful.
