Design to help our NHS Heroes
When Sophie in Year 11 asked Mr Futter if he could help her dad, an anaesthetist, design an adaptor for his face mask, he couldn’t resist!
Using the School’s 3D printer, Mr Futter produced a prototype adaptor. These white tubes (see main picture) may not look like much, but they are in fact, important life saving equipment.
Inspired by the PPE used by ENT surgeons, doctors like Sophie’s dad, are also using similar ideas for their PPE. The adaptors themselves enable an air filter to be attached to a diving mask creating a completely sealed and safe face protector.
An ingenious solution to PPE!
Pictured is Sophie in Year 11 holding the mask that her dad now wears at work.
Well done to Mr Futter!
