"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Eco Reps Undeterred by Lockdown

Our Year 10 and 11 Eco Reps are not letting the lockdown stand in the way of their aims to reduce waste and pollution!

In fact, they are using Covid-19 as the focus of their first Weekly Travel Challenge.

Zahra, Sophie, Brianna, Charlotte, Selena and Eliza are encouraging students to research the effects of Covid-19 and the subsequent lockdown on air pollution levels, then send in their findings which the Eco Reps will discuss at their next virtual meeting on May 6th. The group then hope to video their conclusions at the meeting which will be shared in a future virtual assembly with the whole of the school.  Students will be incentivised to send in their pollution research with the promise of 10 house points per entry!

An Eco/Travel Board has been set up by the reps within the Online NHEHS Student Noticeboard where they will pin their latest initiatives, discussions and activities. As well as the weekly travel challenges, there will be a weekly ‘eco tip of the week’.  First on the eco hit list are the use of disposable gloves and single-use wipes!

Finally, the enterprising reps are planning to organise a Google Meet or write up on, how to make a face mask or how to make beauty treatments at home. Watch this space!
