"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Festive Fun at Junior French & German Clubs

As well as learning Mandarin from Year 1 upwards, all girls are Junior School are also given the opportunity to join French or German language clubs which take place before or after school.

The German Club welcomes children from Year 3 to Year 6 who have an interest in Germany, its culture and language. It is split into two groups, Years 3/4 and Years 5/6. The aim is to introduce a new language and culture by having fun. We sing, read, play and craft all whilst using German to offer an opportunity to find out more about this exciting and diverse country. It is run by the School’s native German Language Assistant Mrs Baritsch.

French Club is offered to girls from Year 2 through to Year 6 with separate sessions for each year group. The sessions follow the ‘Rigolo’ course with structured lessons so that the girls’ learning of the French language and culture is progressive. The clubs also use ‘Linguascope’ and the girls enjoy singing, playing games, role plays and even dancing too! The club is run by Mme Vernon, our native French Language Assistant.

This week both clubs have featured a variety of fun activities. German Club ran their own assembly, with both Years 3/4 and 5/6 performing songs and Christmas carols in German, complete with all the actions!

French Club also finished on a high with a celebratory and very delicious ‘petit déjeuner ‘ and festive games!  Including ‘Bof’ – our French club mascot who was also hungry!

If your daughter would like to sign up for either club, please look out for our School Comms emails this week about Junior School Clubs for next term.
