Fifty Year 8s Take the Entrepreneurial Challenge at the 10X Fair
Year 8 have been busy trying to discover their inner entrepreneurs these past few weeks as they take part in the 10X Challenge, a national competition run by Young Enterprise, the UK’s leading enterprise and financial education charity for young people aged 11 – 19 years.
The challenge runs until Friday 25th May with around 50 students taking part this year, divided into ten competitive teams.
Each group has been pledged £20 from the 10X Bank as start-up capital to get their enterprise off the ground, with 4 weeks to set up their businesses and experience first-hand what it is like to be an entrepreneur.
A big highlight is the 10X Fair which took place last week. This is where our young entrepreneurs got to present their products to sell to students and staff, from handmade bracelets, knitted bags and rings, to clay sculptures and customised charms, crocheted octopuses, lip glosses and balms, scrunchies, earrings, keyrings and more!
Miss Watkins, Head of Innovation and Enterprise at NHEHS was very proud of the year group, saying their work and enthusiasm had been ‘off the scale!’

You can still buy online from the businesses by clicking here on their Google Site.
At the end of the Challenge the students pay back the £10 start-up pledge plus a £2 legacy contribution, but any profit can be kept and it is then up to the individuals and teams to decide how to spend it.
Well done to Flourished, Bloom, Glamshelf, BeJewellery, Spatula & Co, Care & Co, Charmify, Sunset Strings, Chocablocs, #GirlsJustWannaHaveBUSINESS, and Daisy Chains!
We wait to see how much profit the fledging businesses have made when the figures are finalised at the end of the week!
