"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Forging Futures for Year 13

Today sees the launch of ‘Forging Futures’ – a bespoke timetable of stimulating, wide-ranging and challenging selection of courses which aim to give our Year 13s the most positive experience for the remainder of their time in school in light of not having public exams. Courses include a variety of topics that cover academic enrichment, practical life skills and wellbeing, designed to appeal to a large variety of students’ interests.

Students were invited to sign up for 2-3 courses with a variety of live sessions and independent study, although they are welcome to opt in for more. The courses will continue until June 19th with a break for half term in the middle.

Options for students keen to try a new language include Beginners German, Portuguese, Chinese; Japanese Studies; Contemporary Chinese Poetry and Prose. For those with cultural interests, classes cover Music, Art and Madness, The Power of Poetry, Theatre Appreciation and Art Class. For the more practically-minded, courses include Learn to Sew, Cooking on a Budget, Sustainable Gardening, Managing Your Finances, Excel Top Tips, Event Planning and Refresh Your Maths Knowledge. Discussing Global Current Affairs, Surviving and Thriving Post Sixth Form, Mindfulness and Fostering Good Habits are also lined up, as well as the intriguing Belly Dancing for Beginners!

We hope our students enjoy delving into and exploring these new areas outside the curriculum to inspire and help equip them for their next steps into life beyond NHEHS.
