Music Scholars Inspired at Workshop with Professional Choral Conductor
The first of our workshops with professional choral conductor Hilary Campbell ran this week with a keen new group of scholars, GCSE and A level students. The students have been working with Miss Goodsell, Director of Music, weekly with the intention of having three workshops over the year and the chance to lead their own ensembles in the summer term. The students worked on their beat patterns, and how to demonstrate their intentions to the ensemble. They also covered technical aspects such as starting, stopping and what to do with your other hand!
Emma who undertook the project for the first time two years ago said ‘It was great to get back into conducting this term. Whilst I play in loads of ensembles, I never really watched conductors or knew what they wanted but I’m now I’m able to interpret the music a lot better as I understand what they are asking from me.’
