New Home Leaves Year 12 DT Students & Bees Buzzing!
By Bea G, Year 12
In the summer term, Nyla and I worked on a woodwork project and built a beehive for the new bee project, organised by Dr Sheldon.
We constructed the broad box where the queen bee is often located, and the super, where the worker bees make the honey. After a couple of months, the bees had settled in, and we were able to go and visit the hives. We learnt soon after we arrived that there were many more bees than were able to fit in the beehives we had created, therefore more super boxes were needed. Seeing the bees in person was an amazing experience where we were both able to step out of our comfort zone and learn more about them and their lifestyle.
