"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

NHEHS Choir Invited to Perform Alongside Ealing Youth Orchestra

By Zara B, Music Rep

On Friday 11th of February, our Senior Choir was invited to perform alongside Ealing Youth Orchestra (EYO) and the London Mozart players in their annual spring concert, held at St Barnabas Church.

Despite being a really challenging piece, it was a great opportunity to be able to sing “Neptune,” the last movement of Holst’s “The Planets,” with such an amazing orchestra.

After rehearsing early every Monday morning since the beginning of term, it was really satisfying for the choir to see it all come together when we had our first rehearsal in the church with the orchestra. It required a lot of work from both the students and the teachers (shoutout to Mr Head), with multiple last minute rehearsals in the weeks leading up to the concert.

The concert as a whole was of a very high standard and I especially enjoyed the performance of Rachmaninoff’s second piano concerto; it was great to be able to support all of our friends who are in the orchestra.

We all really enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to hopefully taking part in similar performances in the future! It was the perfect taster for our upcoming Spring Concert, to be held on 29th March, where Senior Choir will be performing a Poulenc piece alongside Symphony Orchestra.
