"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

NHEHS Musician of the Year 2022

By Miss Goodsell, Director of Music

Monday evening saw 19 students compete for the honour of the NHEHS Musician of the Year title. Heats were held during the afternoon as there was a record 29 original entries.

Our adjudicator for the evening was Cara Curran, a professional singer with the Grammy award winning early music ensemble Stile Antico and Director of Music at Ravenscourt Park Prep School.

The standard was incredibly high with some fantastic performances from both students in Years 7-9 (Junior Award) and Years 10-13 (Senior Award).

Grace K in Year 13 retained the main title for the second year in a row with a mature and virtuosic performance of Walton’s ‘Two pieces for violin and piano’. Yuna T took the Junior Award with an impressive ‘Fantaisie Impromptu’ by Chopin. A mention for commitment goes to Zara T who, due to performing in a day long national hockey competition wasn’t able to attend, but recorded her performance prior to the actual event. Kiara C in Year 7 earned her Highly Commended award for her brave and creative twist on Bach’s ‘Prelude’ from Suite No. 1 by Bach.

The Results:

Junior Award:

Winner: Yuna T

2nd: Dunya A

3rd: Sophia D J

Highly Commended: Kiara C

Senior Award:

Winner: Grace K

2nd: Kikuko K

3rd: Rhea J

Highly Commended: Shreya G

A huge well done to all 29 performers. Thank you to Jozef Janik, pianist extraordinaire and to Cara for taking time to judge the competition.
