November NHEHS Charities Update
Harrow Club Christmas Appeal
NHEHS is partnering up with a local charity called the Harrow Club. They work with some of the most marginalised young people in West London and provide accessible and high-quality opportunities, which enable them to maximise their life chances and to enhance their personal development. Through creative, cutting-edge projects delivered by an experienced, committed team, they provide learning opportunities, routes to employment and critically increased resilience and well-being for young people aged 8 to 21.
In the first 7 days of December they have a Christmas Appeal running. Any money raised in this period will be matched by corporate sponsors.
As a school we are doing two things over this period:
1) Selling Christmas cards designed by two year 8 students (available very soon).
They will cost £4 for a pack of 8 but with corporate sponsorship, this means the charity will receive £8 for every pack we sell!
2) Fundraising via a justgiving page
Staff and students are being asked to take part in a challenge at some point in these first 7 days. Sharing the justgiving page with friends and family.
Miss O’Connor will be running 40km over those 7 days and a couple of students in the senior school are starting to come forwards.
REMEMBER: Every pound you give is worth £2 to the charity!!
Christmas Jumper Day for The Log Cabin Charity
We are extending Christmas Jumper Day to 3 days this year! For a £2 donation to The Log Cabin, girls and staff can join in & wear Christmas socks/tights (8th), accessories/hair grips/bands (reindeer antlers etc) on the 9th, with Christmas Jumper Day itself on the 10th of December!
The Log Cabin provides a setting where children and young people with additional needs or disabilities can socialise, grow and have fun alongside their mainstream peers.
Year Group Charities
A big congratulations to Year 11 on raising over £1,000 for Women’s Aid through their charity initiatives in October! They have set the bar very high for the other Year groups to follow with their own chosen charities! Read all about it here.
Year 10 have decided to support The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust over the coming weeks. The charity runs high impact programmes that inspire and enable young people from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to succeed. As a year group they were passionate about the Black Lives Matter movement and this is one way in which they are trying to show their support.
Hannah’s 500+ Letters Thank Ealing Hospital Heroes
Many of us have been touched by the fantastic work by the staff at our local hospitals during the pandemic this year. Hannah in Year 12 wanted to show our gratitude by encouraging as many girls and staff as possible to write thank you letters to all the staff at Ealing Hospital. Read more here.
Age UK Ealing Appeal
Huge thanks to all our families who donated so generously last week to our Ealing Age UK Appeal – we collected well over 400 items, including food & healthcare items plus some treats, including puzzle books, slippers, chocolates & biscuits!
LAGER Can Volunteering
Our students continue to clean up Ealing with LAGER Can as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Read more about this initiative here.
