CERN, the UN and more – Half Term Physics Trip to Geneva
During half term, a 20+ strong group of NHEHS Physics students and teachers enjoyed a fantastic trip to Geneva in Switzerland.
On the first day we enjoyed visiting the History of Science Museum and a guided tour of the United Nations, before spending the whole of day two at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research – one of the world’s largest and most respected centres for scientific research. During the visit to CERN the students visited the AD (more commonly called the “anti-matter factory”), CERN’s first particle accelerator the Synchrocyclotron, and travelled into France to visit control centre for the LHCb (one of the four major experiments running on CERN’s Large Hadron Collider.)
The final day was spent exploring the old town of Geneva, followed by a visit to the International Museum of the Red Cross.
