"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Students celebrate well-earned A Level results

We have been delighted to celebrate our 2021 leavers, as they collected their A level results today. In the face of the unique disruptions this year, these results were a testament to the resilience and determination shown by students, and the support and inspiration of teachers.

58% of overall grades awarded were A*s, 84% A* or A, and 97% A*, A or B grades.

As ever, we are delighted with the variety of courses which students will go on to study, including Law, Mathematics and Chemistry at the University of Oxford; Classics and Geography at the University of Cambridge; Social Anthropology at the University of Edinburgh; Medicine at the University of Manchester; Philosophy at the University of Leeds; History and Politics at the University of Warwick. Medicine and STEM subjects accounted for a third of offers. In particular, this cohort showed formidable mathematical talent, with eight students heading off to read Mathematics at University. 88% of girls have secured places at their first choice university.

The school’s full programme of live teaching in both lockdowns, and the hard work put in by students, meant that all girls were able to complete their courses, standing them in excellent stead as they embark on the next stage of their academic careers.

Matthew Shoults, Headmaster at NHEHS, said: “These outcomes are testament to students’ tenacity and hard work in showing their capabilities, even in difficult times. Teachers have been absolutely dedicated in helping girls complete their courses, providing inspiring teaching both in person and remotely, and giving girls a sense of confidence in unusual circumstances.”
