Seniors, Juniors & Staff All Close in on their #BeYou Goals
This half-term girls in Year 5-9 have been taking part in the PE department’s #BeYou project where they were challenged to choose an activity they already love, or try out something that they had always wanted to try, then set their own goals up to half term.
We have been really impressed by the variety of skills, activities and sports that have been chosen. The girls have not only been busy during their PE lesson, but some have also roped in friends and family members to join in on the project.
Here’s a snapshot of what we have been up to so far:
- Rosie, Nicola, Evie and Zara in Year 9 have set the goal of traveling the distance of the Camino Trail – a total of 804km.
- Zoe in Year 9 and Daisy in Year 7 are wanting to learn how to successfully rollerblade and include some tricks.
- Amelia C and Ella M in Year 9 are trying to cycle at least 20km each week, often taking the opportunity to take scenic photographs along the way.
- Lola T in Year 9 has set a goal to walk or run around every park in Ealing. Definitely one we would advocate to those local to school to try! She has done Gunnersbury and Acton thus far.
- Lollie R in Year 9 is practicing her football skills with her brother- who is turning, by the sounds of things, into a pro coach!
- Nell in Year 9 has set the challenge of improving in yoga and meditation, aiming to do a headstand.

- Rosie in Year 7 is keeping fit by completing an hour’s exercise while keeping a balloon in the air.
- Guusje in Year 7 has set the goal of doing do a different type of sport every 2-4 days. She has done a variety of sports, including Skateboarding and Frisbee.
The Year 5 and 6’s have also joined in on the fun with some creative activities! Year 5’s Sofia B, Zara M and Anishka G have come up with a fun way to be active – they are going to do an A-Z of exercise/sport, so they are taking a new letter each day and get together online to do that sport or exercise! Darcey (Year 6) has been practicing her roller kating skills, now trying to travel backwards while Siya, also in Year 6 is cycling over the weekends, trying to increase her distance each time.
Other Year 5 and 6 girls have chosen to set goals of scootering, walking with their family, improving their trampoline skills and even doing boxing on their Wii.
The Year 5 to 9’s are not the only ones with a #BeYou challenge, NHEHS staff have got involved and have set their own goals too. There is great progress already, with staff on track to achieving their goal. Have a look at what some of the staff are getting up to:
Mr Stark has set the goal of doing 20 push-ups continuously and a 2 minute plank – he is currently on 16 pushups
and 91 second plank.
Miss Miller is currently completing the couch to 5k challenge.
Miss Gamberini is trying to run up to 5km by the end of lockdown and/or run 3 km in 15 to 20 minutes.
Miss Newman has been busy completing a workout/exercise once a day since the project began – the morning
HIIT and Core workouts with the girls are a favourite!
Miss Munro-Hall has been completing daily walks around Ealing of a minimum of 5km.
Miss Nicholas said, “I am thrilled with how well the #BeYou project has gone, honestly the girls are inspiring me! My message to the girls is keep going in this final week. I have said it before but the quote “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you” is key at this point, give it that final push and see what you can achieve- you may just surprise yourself!”
