Sixth Form Art Students Inspired at FORMA & Spitalfields Gallery Crawl
By Mrs Fisher-Black, Head of Art
Year 12 and 13 Art A-Level students attended the FORMA international art, design & architecture education fair based at Royal Institute of British Architecture on Thursday 12th October 2023. Providing an exciting opportunity for our students to access lectures given by industry leaders, portfolio preparation workshops and meet with representatives from world renowned undergraduate and postgraduate courses, this event offered direct and expert insight into the Visual Arts Industry.
The afternoon followed with a gallery crawl around the Spitalfields area of London, visiting the Christo exhibition commissioned by the Gagosian Gallery, curated by Elena Geuna. The exhibition is the inaugural project in the Gagosian Open series of off-site projects of ambitious temporary exhibitions beyond the walls of the gallery that allows audiences to experience remarkable artworks in unusual contexts.
This was followed by a visit to the Whitechapel Gallery, exploring artworks in the ‘It all starts with Thread’ exhibit, concluding our trip at the Gilbert and George foundation.
It was a brilliant, creative, inspiring and informative day.
