"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Sixth Formers Lead by Example at BUDS Enrichment Programme

We have had lovely feedback from some of the nine local primary schools taking part in the first session of our BUDS programme, which was run by our teachers and some of our Sixth Formers last Saturday.

Here’s what Priya B (Year 12) made of the first morning and why she wanted to volunteer and get involved:

“I signed up for the BUDS programme for many different reasons; one being that I wanted to try a new experience and I saw this as the perfect opportunity to do so, as I also have the chance to stretch myself in terms of my confidence and leadership skills.  Another reason I joined the programme is that I want to be a role model to younger people. Getting to know the kids in my group throughout the day was so enjoyable and seeing them put lots of effort into each session – even the ones where they didn’t feel 100% confident – was so rewarding. For me, the most important thing is that the kids all have people they can look up to. Not just public figures, but also people who make direct impacts on their lives, whether it is through conversation, or by actions. Especially as they approach Year 6 and begin to prepare for SATs and 11+, I want to be able to help encourage and inspire them to do the best that they can.

I think the first BUDS session of the year was a great success and I can’t wait to see what the staff have in store for the sessions to come!”
