Sports Update – November 18th 2022

Our sports teams have been straight back into action since we came back from half term, with 27 fixtures across five different sports this week alone!

Our team of the week was the Under 15 Hockey team for beating Godolphin & Latymer on by 3-2 with player of the match Zoe D.

Good News:

Hockey: Clemmie LW (Year 11) has been selected into the U16 London North County Hockey Squad and  Maddy C (Year 12) who has been selected into the U17 London North County Hockey Squad.

Trampolining: A huge well-done Nina Pl who during the half term holiday competed in the London Schools Trampoline finals and came 1st in her age category.

Cricket: Well-done to Lilly B who was asked to attend a training session with England Batsman Maia Bouchier through Middlesex Cricket. Lilly was praised on her excellent bowling. Read more here.

Water polo: Zara D (Y11) has been playing in the West London Penguins Ladies water polo team which finished 2nd in their league this season, and will be in the Women’s Division One next season. Manpreet (Y8) & her mixed Middlesex team finished first and were Cup winners of the London Waterpolo League at the U13 Intercounty Tournament. Jaspreet, Evie (Y10), Amelia, Zoe (Y11) and their mixed Middlesex team also finished first and were Cup winners of the London Waterpolo League at the U16 Intercounty Tournament

Cross Country

Our Junior (Years 7 and 8) and Intermediate (Years 9 and 10) teams competed in the ESAA Regional Finals Cross Country championships in St. Albans at the weekend having qualified from the county round last month. Our juniors finished 12th overall and our intermediates 9th.

Football

Our U13A and U12A teams had fantastic wins this week against St Augustine’s Priory away, with the U13s winning 1-0 (MVP Aneira B) and the U12s 7-1 (MVP Sophia L).

Hockey

This week saw hockey action from Year 7 up to our Senior team. Our 1st XI lost 0-4 away to St Benedict’s, while our U13 teams both lost away to Latymer Upper, the A team 0-3 and the B 1-2. Our U12 teams enjoyed success home to Francis Holland School, Regent’s Park with a 6-1 win (MVP Anishka G) and a 2-2 draw for the A & B teams respectively. Meanwhile our U16A team took the win 7-0 against St Benedict’s U18B team (MVPs Amelia C, Eliza H, Hannah K) and our U15A team chalked up a super 3-2 win v. Godolphin & Latymer away (MVP Zoe D). On 7th November our U12A team lost 0-1 to Godolphin & Latymer with the B team losing 1-2.

Netball

Our U12A team took part in the GDST Netball Rally in Croydon on 10th November and finished a fantastic 4th place out of 20 teams.

Our U16A team have progressed to the third round of the SistersnSport Cup with an excellent 40-6 away win to Grey Court School. LEH were our opponents for a great afternoon of U13 netball on 7th November. Our A team won 24-16 (MVP Ash P), our Bs lost 11-12 (MVP Florence B), Cs 4-12 (MVPs Lilly B and Lisa B), the Ds 13-25 (MVP Lola J), E team 0-16 (MVP Chloe CP) and F tea lost 2-12 (MVP Cosima M).

We hosted Godolphin & Latymer on November 8 and 9th with fixtures for the U14 and U15 teams. Our U14A team lost 12-22, our B team won 16-15 and C team lost 4-14. Our U15 teams won the A (27-12) and C (14-6) fixtures but lost the B match 6-10. Our U16A team played home on the 9th against Lady Eleanor Holles and won 27-12 (MVP Ella M).

It was great to see so many Year7s taking part in the netball fixtures against Lady Eleanor Holles on 15th November – with matches from the A to F teams. The A team lost 4-9, the B team 3-8, the C team 2-6, the D team won 6-2, the E team lost 0-5 (MVP Claudia W) and the Fs lost 1-4 (MVP Petra M). Our U15A team lost out to Putney High U14A in the SSMC cup round 3 (losing 27-41) while our U16A team took the win 27-17 against St Paul’s Girls’ School.

Swimming

Our U12 and U13 teams competed in a gala against St Augustine’s on 17th November – result tbc.
