Spring Charities & Volunteering Update – March 2024
It’s been a very busy end of term for us on the charities and volunteering fronts!
Charities
This half term it has been Year 8’s turn to run their charity fundraising activities for Girl Up – a leadership development initiative welcoming girls and youth of all gender identities to advance gender justice worldwide. As of last week they had raised over £200 with more to come in from an Easter Egg hunt, egg delivery, an auction/fair and bake sale.
For Red Nose Day we encouraged staff and students to come in wearing a red jumper or t-shirt in exchange for a donation to the charity, which raised over £200 for Comic Relief. Meanwhile our Maths Reps ran Pi related activities during Maths and Science Week, with donations as part of their bracelet making going to the UK Maths Trust.

The Sixth Form charity this year is Umunandi, a small UK charity supporting a school in a slum area of Lusaka, Zambia in Africa. The school provides free education to orphans and vulnerable children alongside paying pupils. Last week the whole Sixth Form was invited to take part in a sleepover to raise money for the charity.
Last Thursday our Art Reps and department hosted our annual Charity Art Fashion Show which this year had a tropical theme, so our Year 12 Art Reps decided to support The Rainforest Trust which aims to help save endangered wildlife and protect our planet by creating rainforest reserves through partnerships, community engagement and donor support.
At the end of Neurodiversity Week. Mrs Hall, Head of SEND, organised a Neurodiversity bake sale for the charity London Autism Group.
Charity Collections
We are very grateful for all the fantastic donations to our two collections last week. Thank you!
We took over 150 Easter Eggs to children supported by Care 4 Calais in Hayes as part of our volunteering activities. Our group of student volunteers also enjoyed running craft activities with the children to celebrate Easter and Nowruz (Iranian New Year). Mrs Johnson also delivered our cereals and UHT milks to a very grateful Ealing Foodbank.
Volunteering
Coinciding with Science Week last week, Year 10 students made and took kaleidoscopes down to North Ealing Primary School. Year 5s from North Ealing made the return journey to NHEHS for a science lesson which you can read more about here. Our Year 10s also held an Easter Fair for Mencap clients in our Recital Hall last week.
A Happy Easter and thank you for your continued support and generosity.
