Super Solo Session with England Netballer Sasha Corbin!
By Genevieve Pearce & Sephera Forrester (Year 10)
Sasha Corbin, a former England Rose and the current captain of the Saracens Mavericks, came to NHEHS on Wednesday 7th October to run a Solo Session for selected Year 10s and 11s (in our Year bubbles).
Sasha got the session off to a highly entertaining start by encouraging us to ‘feel the beat of the music’ she was playing while we executed individual ball skills with movement!
The session was focused on ball handling and defensive work with match play scenarios at the end. It was a truly incredible experience and was amazing to be able to be coached by an elite athlete. The techniques that she suggested in terms of defensive tactics will be very useful when the competitive netball can return to normal, which will hopefully be very soon. The Q&A was also very popular, with questions for Sasha ranging from when she started to play to how she felt just before an international match.
We thoroughly enjoyed the entire session and are so grateful for the opportunity to train with one of the top netballers in the game.
