The Franklin Science Newsletter Issue Two
We are proud to announce the second edition of ‘The Franklin’ – our science department’s newsletter.
This edition covers subjects ranging from “Why do we love music?” to the impact of bioaccumulation and why do bridges “grow” in the summer. It also includes “Herman’s Life” – a winning entry by Jaspreet in Year 8 from the Elemental Soup chemistry creative writing competition held by the science department last May, where entrants were encouraged to include as many words as possible which started with the symbol of a chemical element!
Published twice a year, ‘The Franklin’ gives girls a chance to research and produce an academically rigorous piece of writing about an aspect of science they find fascinating and is open to contributions from anyone between Year 7 and Year 10. There is one science rep per subject (biology, chemistry, physics, psychology) who takes the role of editor.
