"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

The Launch of ‘150 Years in Memories’ – Our 150th Anniversary Book

By Mr Shoults, Headmaster

As we approached our 150th anniversary, I realised that the major source in the school archives is a book called The Fountain Unsealed,  a history of the school from its founding by Jane Sayers.  But there was an obvious problem: it stopped in 1973, a century in.

As we were on the verge of a significant milestone, it seemed just the time bring the story up to date.  This was particularly important because, while the school library (physically and online) has a decent collection of records, much of the school’s last fifty years is locked in the memories of its alumnae, and we needed to record these memories afresh.  Thus was commissioned a new book charting the school’s full 150 year span. But we also wanted the book to be delved into, and not risking it lurking unloved on a shelf. So we decided to search out more images as well as information, and to capture the school’s past through 150 memories, one for each year of our history, to provide an engaging and lively experience.  In keeping with our focus on student leadership, a group of Year 10 students interviewed a whole range of alumnae, to contribute to the overall production of the text.

I hope that both former and current students, parents and staff will enjoy dipping into the past of this inspiring and nurturing school.

If you would like to buy the book, please visit Parent Pay where you will be able to purchase 150 Years in Memories for £25.
