"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Y12 Nyla Wins London Regional Final of the National Gallery’s Articulation Competition!

By Clem G, Nyla K, Magnolia LC and Clemmie B, Year 12

Our trip to the V&A to watch Nyla K perform in Articulation and to look at the Donatello was an insightful experience. Looking at Donatello’s pieces allowed us to discover all these wonderful works and its context. We could thoroughly see Donatello skills through his sculptures such as the ‘David’ made in marble which was my personal favourite. Although the Donatello exhibition was an amazing experience,  watching all the performers in the Articulation competition was even better.

On Tuesday the 15th we travelled to the V&A to see Nyla perform her Articulation presentation. First, we went to see the ‘Donatello’ exhibition in the Sainsbury Gallery, where we saw many beautiful pieces from the early Renaissance including devotional images of the Virgin Mary and Christ, and beautiful gilded statues of mythological or biblical figures. Most prominently, we saw a massive golden bust of Donatello’s head. Then we all took a trip to Honest Burger and ate in the square! Afterwards we headed back for Nyla’s sound checks and shortly after she performed her presentation excellently and by far excelled all other participants, even one on the topic of cannibalism.

Nyla beat off very stiff competition from 9 other leading London schools and will be taking her place in the grand final at the National Gallery on 28th March!
