Y7 Inspired by Science & Art at Kew Gardens
By Sofia B, Year 7
On Monday the 20th of March, all of Year 7 went to Kew Gardens for an Art trip. We enjoyed exploring the large variety of different plants and flowers which we are hoping to incorporate into our art lessons next term. We went to two workshops; a science and art one focused on capturing different plants and drawing them into our books with lots of smaller details. The other taught us about different drawing techniques and using those skills from a bigger perspective.
We loved learning how to do sgraffito and also make our own creations of nature out of wire – I made a flower. We also enjoyed looking at the paintings at the Marianne North Gallery, named after a botanical art pioneer.
We all had a great day out and are looking forward to using our new skills at our next art lessons!
