Year 11 PRE Trip to St Paul’s Cathedral
By Natasha B, Year 11
Last week, Year 11 PRE students went on their last trip before GCSEs to St. Paul’s Cathedral. The aim of the trip was to help us get a better understanding of places of worship and we were fortunate enough to be given time to ask one of the priests from the Cathedral our own questions.
When we arrived we had a short tour of the Cathedral. Many of us were in awe of the intricate patterns in the dome and were captivated by the incredible architecture of the building. Our tour guide also got us to lie down on the floor to look up into the dome and so we could appreciate the decorative designs.
After our tour, we then talked to one of the first female priests to be ordained at St.Paul’s (as female priests weren’t allowed in the Church of England until 1994!). We asked her many questions from how she came to be a priest, her own personal experiences of being one and other questions relating to what we have studied such as her views on God’s existence, the abortion debate, Heaven and can war ever be justified. It was fascinating to listen to everything she had to say to us.
