Year 3 & 4 GDST Creative Writing Prize Winner
A big congratulations to Tess in class 3M, winner of the 2020 GDST Creative Writing Prize for Years 3 and 4!
This year, the theme for the GDST Creative Writing prize was ‘New Rules for the Future World’ and the entries were judged by bestselling author Rachel Hore, Honorary Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia and alumna of Sutton High School GDST.
Rachel thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the entries and she found it very difficult to select the winners. We were delighted to hear that Tess was the winner for the Year 3 and 4 category for her story ‘Thoughts of the Moon.’ Rachel said that Tess’s first person voice was full of vitality in her upbeat story of a family taking a spacecraft to a new life on the moon. She engaged splendidly with the likely thoughts of a young girl in these circumstances and used vivid language to describe her ideas. Rachel loved the thought of energy from Sirius being used to power wind and fly kites!
Well done also to our other entrants Cissy and Eloise for their excellent stories.
