Sports Update – January 28th 2022

A truly super couple of weeks for school sports, with fixtures in Athletics, Badminton, Cricket, Cross Country, Hockey, Netball Swimming and Trampolining!

Cricket

Congratulations to our U12 Cricketers who won the Lady Taverners Indoor Cricket Tournament at Lord’s on January 25th and were were crowned U12 Middlesex Indoor Cricket Champions! You can read all about it in Lilly and Manpreet’s report here. Well done to Year 7 Annika K, Hannah D, Joanna D, Lilia P, Romilly C, Noushi H, Lilly B, Elizabeth O-T, Manpreet G and to Nishka P and Lana G from Year 6 in the Junior School who all played their parts!  

Hockey

In the week of the 17th January, our U12A&B took on Godolphin & Latymer School Away and while the A team lost 0-3 (MVP Ella P), the B team won 1-0 (MVP Johanna K). Our U13ABC returned to G&L for a fixture with the following results- A team lost 2-4 (MVP Olivia B), B team lost 0-3 (MVP Giuliana R) and C team lost 0-3. Our 1st XI got some valuable match practice in ahead of their National Finals in February with a 1-1 draw way to St Benedict’s (MVPs Jennifer D and Alice S).

On 24th January our U12B team took on Godolphin & Latymer’s U12C team and won 2-0 (MVP Romilly C) with our U12C team winning 4-0 against G&L’s U12D team (MVP Rakhi G). Our 1st  XI played an excellent 3-3 draw against a mixed Highgate team on January 26th. Every student stepped up and played fantastic hockey.

Netball

On the netball courts, our U13A team’s great run in the SistersnSport National Schools Netball Cup came to an end with a 32-39 loss home to Emanuel School in the quarter final (MVP Imogen H). Our U16A team took an 18-11 win in a home friendly with Kew House (MVP Beatrice G). Godolphin & Latymer played host to our U12 netballers on the 18th January, with NHEHS winning the A & B matches 21-29 (MVP Manpreet G) and 18-8 (MVP Elizabeth O-T) respectively. Our U12C lost 1-11 (MVP Alishba A), our U12D lost 2-16 (MVP Aneira B and Johanna K) and our U12F lost 5-15 (MVP Elodie H). Our U12E team won 10-4 (MVP Lola J).

Our U14 teams took on St Augustine’s Priory away on 20th January. Our U14B team lost narrowly 9-11 to the A team (MVP Jasmine OdT), our U14C team beat St Augustine’s B team 18-3 (MVP Zahara H) while our D team lost 3-6 to the St Augustine’s C team (MVP Areesha A).

We celebrated a clean sweep of wins in netball last week against St Benedict’s. Our U15B team took the win 19-12 vs St Benedict’s A team (MVP Carmen H S), while our U14As won 28-14 (MVP Julia B) and the U14Cs won 45-0 (Emmeline L). The Under 13s also won all their matches with the A team winning 36-4 (MVP Olivia M), the B team 36-3 (MVP Annabella K) and the C team 34-0 (MVP Valentina C P-P).

Cross Country

A number of our students were selected to represent the Borough of Ealing at the Middlesex Schools Cross Country meeting on January 27th. Well done to Rosie, Nicola & Natasha finishing in top 15 of their age groups!

A special congratulations to Jasmine Palmer for winning the Senior Middlesex Cross County event, meaning she will go on to represent Middlesex at the English School Cross Country (gain her Senior Middlesex Vest). This really is a notable achievement and is the first NHEHS student we know of who has won the Senior Middlesex Cross Country.

Swimming

We took a team to the GDST Swimming Rally on January 27th. It was a great day of swimming and ten of our swimmers made the finals. A special mention to Year 5’s Violet who finished first in the Under 11 backstroke 50m final and Year 8’s Daisy who took third place in the Under 14 backstroke final. 

Indoor Athletics

On January 24th our U13A athletics team won their event at the Ealing Indoor Athletics Finals and go through to the London Youth Games Regional Finals on February 8th.

Trampoline

Well done to our U14A Trampoline team who won against Godolphin & Latymer’s U18A team. NHEHS top Scorer Gold Routine was Nina (Year 7) and top Scorer Bronze Routine was Jemima C in Year 9.

Badminton

Our U14A team played against Godolphin & Latymer at home and narrowly lost, with the same number of wins and losses after the final round for each school. Countback on points meant G&L had 122 while NHEHS had 109.
